When Vonna O’Neill moved to Edenton with her husband, Dennis, nearly two decades ago many of her friends questioned how well she would adjust to rural life after a globe-hopping marketing career for a major telecommunications company.

Veterans of America’s submarine service gathered in front of Edenton’s Barker House last weekend to dedicate memorial bricks that will be installed near Edenton Bay’s docks. The bricks will sit in front of a black granite bench facing the harbor.
